Public Statement of Commitments

Commercial Training Services LLC | Thonotosassa, Florida | Licensed by the Florida Commission for Independent Education | Serving Florida drivers

CFI is a teaching and workforce school. We don't conduct academic research. Our purpose is simple: train safe, competent, employable Class A commercial drivers for Florida and the nation.

1. Transparent, Merit-Based Admissions

We admit students who meet the federal and state requirements to hold a commercial learner's permit and CDL, and who can complete our program. Those requirements include age, a valid driver license, DOT medical certification, and English proficiency as required by FMCSA. We do not use preferences of any kind. Admission requirements are published, applied the same way to every applicant, and available before anyone pays a dollar.

2. A Respectful, Safe Learning Environment

Free and open discussion is welcome at CFI, and so is a firm standard of conduct. Harassment, intimidation, and disruption of training are not tolerated, because in a truck yard or on the road they are safety hazards. Our conduct policy is published in the student handbook / available [Here] and is enforced consistently.

3. Curriculum Built on Standards, Instructors Hired on Qualifications

Our curriculum follows the federal Entry-Level Driver Training (ELDT) standards and the FMCSA Training Provider Registry requirements. It is taught as written. We hire instructors based on their credentials, safety record, real-world driving experience, and ability to teach, and we do not hire based on ideology or background.

4. Affordability, Pricing Transparency, and Measurable Outcomes

  • Published pricing: Tuition, fees, and what's included are listed on our website pricing page. We do not charge hidden fees.
  • Clear refund and cancellation policy: [Download Student Handbook/Catalogue]
  • One-on-one instruction: Each student trains directly with an instructor, so they get the seat time they pay for.
  • Outcomes we track and publish each year:
  • CDL skills-test first-try pass rate: 66%
  • Drop-out rate: 1% (students who enrolled and did not complete the program)
  • Updates: We will refresh these figures annually.

Our goal is that graduates who earn their CDL are well trained, prepared, and successful in starting a driving career.

5. Academic Rigor and Honest Assessment in the Age of AI

We do not inflate grades or pass students who aren't ready. Students must demonstrate competence in the classroom, in the yard, and on the road before we sign off on completion. Our most important assessments are hands-on and in person: pre-trip inspection, basic control skills, and the road test. These cannot be done by AI or anyone else on a student's behalf. Students who haven't mastered the material keep training until they have.

6. Prioritizing Florida Students and Florida's Workforce

The trucking and logistics industry is essential to Florida's economy, and employers across Tampa Bay need qualified drivers. We prioritize training local and Florida residents for in-demand jobs and maintain relationships with regional employers/carriers. We also comply with all federal and state requirements on driver eligibility, including English proficiency and domicile requirements.

Our Commitment

We will keep these commitments, review them annually, and report our outcomes honestly. Questions about this statement can go to Bradley Boardwine at bboardwine@cfitruckschools.com.
